Killed: 1,640 (including 104 children, 194 women)
Injured: 8,408
· Since 10/8, 41 healthcare workers have been killed. 9/27, two strikes targeted medical facilities in Deir Syrian and Taybeh, resulting in the deaths of 7 healthcare workers.
· Lebanese Ministry of Interior says that more than 70,000 Lebanese have been forced to flee their homes and towns since Israel launched its latest offensive

Urgent health update: Consequences of war on Gaza and West Bank/East Jerusalem [and now Lebanon] - October 12, 2024
Israeli air, land, & sea bombardment continues across Gaza, causing further civilian casualties, displacement, & destruction of houses & other civilian infrastructure. Ground incursions and heavy fighting continue, especially in Beit Hanoun, Beit Lahiya, and Jabalya, Deir al Balah, Gaza City, & Khan Younis. New evacuation orders were issued in the North Gaza and Gaza governorates.
The extension of the war to the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen is a health and human rights emergency, and an escalation that threatens world war.
Of all the grim distinctions of the yearlong war in Gaza that followed the Hamas attack on Israel last Oct. 7, one may stand out for its deadly singularity: Palestinian civilians there have nowhere to go. Barricaded by barbed-wire fences, tanks and soldiers, they have been effectively imprisoned for 12 months in a 141-square-mile strip of land between Egypt and Israel that has become a killing zone.
The bill in the Israeli Knesset to destroy UNRWA will be even more catastrophic for the population.

UNHCHR: Israel Guilty of Deliberately Destroying Gaza Healthcare and … Extermination
In a report dated October 11 the United Nations Office of the High Commission on Human Rights concluded that Israel has implemented a deliberate policy of destroying Gaza’s healthcare system and is guilty of the crime against humanity of “extermination.”
The numbers revealed by the investigation for the first nine months of the war are horrific:
498 attacks on Gaza health facilities by the Israeli military;
747 persons were killed directly in those attacks and
969 others were injured

Harvard Faculty Hold Widener Library ‘Study-In’ to Protest Student Activist Bans
The pushback in universities to actions protesting the genocide in Gaza is truly frightening... Apparently Harvard's Widener Library cannot tolerate 25 Harvard professors conducting a silent study-in at the library to protest the library’s decision to temporarily ban pro-Palestine students who held a similar demonstration last month. Since when is reading in a library a danger to anyone...except maybe the military-industrial-university complex?
